A man has been arrested after a hit and run in Auckland left a Korean man fighting for his life.
Korean student Taijin Choi, 24, was hit by a car as he crossed the intersection of Queen St and Mayoral Drive about 12.30am on February 17.
A 27-year-old homeless man arrested yesterday was due to appear in Auckland District Court today charged with aggravated wounding and several traffic offences.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mark McHattie, said the man was identified after significant help from the public, for which police were grateful.
The injured man was still in a serious but stable condition in Auckland Hospital today.
His father, who flew to his son's bedside last week, was yesterday told of the arrest.
Last week police said they were looking for a man seen drinking at an inner-city Auckland bar.
He was later seen running through the lower city area minutes after Mr Choi was run down.
