The Great South Road corridor is at the heart of the Manurewa-Takanini-Papakura Spatial Priority Area.
What could the Manurewa, Takanini and Papakura communities look like in 30 years?
The Great South Road corridor will be critical in accommodating much of the major population growth anticipated in the south so Auckland Council is developing an area plan and now wants to know what you think about the future of these centres.
Located within the Manurewa-Papakura ward, this part of south Auckland will require housing, jobs and transport networks to reach its full potential.
Work alongside Manurewa and Papakura local boards and mana whenua to develop the area plan is under way.
The next few months is a chance for the public to have their say.
We want to know what you like and value about Manurewa, Takanini and Papakura centres, what you don’t and what new facilities, places or changes do people want to see in these areas.
Feedback gathered will help inform the draft area plan, which is expected to be out for formal consultation in April next year.
The area plan will set a 30-year vision as well as a 10-year action and implementation plan for targeted projects that will work toward that vision and be interwoven with the local board plans, which are being reviewed next year.
The final plan will be presented to the governing body for approval in mid-2017.
A housing development in Takanini.
From 12 December and through to February, a series of information sessions are being held throughout the community. This is a chance for people to give us their thoughts on what they want to see in this area.
Watch out for our team in the bright orange T-shirts at locations throughout Takanini, Manurewa and Papakura.
