Bach Musica NZ is inviting you to a night of majestic sounds by Joseph Haydn, Francis Poulenc and Ralph Vaughan Williams on Sunday, 23 August at 5pm at Auckland’s Town Hall.
The ‘King of Instruments’, the Klais Organ of Auckland’s Town Hall, played by Timothy Noon, will be featured in Poulenc’s popular Organ Concerto and in Haydn’s Great Organ Mass.
Timothy is one of New Zealand’s busiest and most sought after organists and current Director of Music at the Holy Trinity Cathedral. He has just been appointed Director of Music at the famous Exeter Cathedral in England where he will move in January 2016. This is one of the last opportunities to
experience a true master at work.
At only 18 years old, violinist Lauren Bennett has already cycled the Globe to perform and win prizes in Shanghai and Germany. With strong and virtuous steps she is following her father’s lead, Bach Musica NZ’s concertmaster, and will be delighting as the soloist in Vaughan- Williams’ beautiful The Lark Ascending, one of the top 10 pieces in the annual Classical hit parade.
Haydn’s Great Organ Mass, a 45-minute piece for organ, choir and orchestra, also features leading New Zealand vocal soloists Gina Sanders (soprano), Stephen Diaz (countertenor), Iain Tetley (tenor) and Melbourne bass Nicholas Dinopoulos.
The concert will be conducted by Rita Paczian.
