Today we are reporting 6,297 community cases, 361 current hospitalisations, and 10 deaths.

The seven-day rolling average of community case numbers today is 6,075 – last Friday it was 6,850.

COVID-19 deaths

Today we are sadly reporting the deaths of 10 people with COVID-19. All these people died within in the past 5 days.

Today’s reported deaths take the total number of publicly reported deaths with COVID-19 to 1,303 and the seven-day rolling average of reported deaths is 13.

Of the people whose deaths we are reporting today; one was from Northland; four were from the Auckland region; one was from Waikato; one was from Wairarapa; one was from the Wellington region; one was from Canterbury; and one was from the Southern region.

One person was in their 50s; five were in their 80s; and four were aged over 90. Of these people, eight were women and two were men.

This is a very sad time for whānau and friends and our thoughts and condolences are with them. Out of respect, we will be making no further comment on these deaths.
