Auckland Council is increasing resources to ensure recycling collections in North Shore and Waitākere are back to normal next week.
Recycling and paper and card collections have been running late for some customers in recent weeks, caused by a shortfall of contractor vehicles and staff.
The council has called on other collection companies in the Auckland area to assist with clearing late collections this week, aiming to restore the status quo as soon as possible. The cost of additional resources will be paid for by the council’s contractor, not ratepayers.
“We apologise unreservedly to our customers for any inconvenience they may be experiencing,” says Waste Solutions Manager Ian Stupple. “People have high expectations of the council’s rubbish and recycling services, based on many years of reliable service. We are dealing with immediate issues as quickly and efficiently as possible, and we will continue to support our contractor get back on track.”
Council collections are running to schedule in other parts of the region.
