Luxury Global Japanese car brand INFINITI will help drive the MCKAYSON New Zealand Women’s Golf Open.
INFINITI, the technology leader of the Renault-Nissan Alliance, specialises in luxury vehicles and has been on the cutting edge of technology development since it was established over 25 years ago.
The company, which launched in New Zealand in February 2017, is proud to be a major sponsor and the official vehicle for the first LPGA event in this country, it was announced at the tournament venue of Windross Farm Golf Course in Auckland today.
The MCKAYSON New Zealand Open, which will carry a USD $1.3m prize purse, will be held at Windross Farm on 28 September to 1 October.
MCKAYSON New Zealand Women’s Open promoter Michael Goldstein said the partnership was a perfect fit.
“The MCKAYSON New Zealand Women’s Open will be the highest profile golf event in this country. It’s the first time the LPGA Tour has added New Zealand to its international schedule, and it comes as a result of tremendous growth in the women’s game throughout Asia-Pacific,” he said.
“Likewise INFINITI is an innovative brand at the top of its market and has expanded into New Zealand on the back of its global growth in the luxury automotive segment.
“We are thrilled that a brand built on innovation, performance and quality has decided to partner with the MCKAYSON New Zealand Women’s Open.”
INFINITI was established in 1989 and has led the research and development for establishing a range of innovations which have now become common place in many cars including rear view monitors, voice recognition, lane departure warning, around view monitors, blind spot intervention, direct adaption steering and in recent times, low emission performance in partnership with the Renault Sport Formula One team.
“INFINITI New Zealand is excited to support the prestigious LPGA MCKAYSON New Zealand Women’s Open in Auckland later this year”, said Tom Griffiths, General Manager. “This important sporting event aligns with INFINITI’s vision of human, daring, forward, and we look forward to driving the elite golfers in our luxury vehicles”.
The organisers, who held a media briefing day at Windross Farm today, expect to name further sponsors and players in the coming weeks.
A limited number of four-day season passes for the MCKAYSON New Zealand Women’s Open are available at $99 plus booking fee. Single day passes are available at $39 for Thursday and Friday and $49 per day for Saturday and Sunday – both plus booking fee.
