Auckland Council is reminding Franklin residents where to find drop off sites for their recycling.
The reminder follows advice (yesterday) from the owners of Pukekohe Transfer Station, EnviroNZ, that the privately-owned facility is ending their recycling drop off service on 31 December 2015.
Waste Solutions manager Ian Stupple says the council has no say in the running of the site, and no involvement in their decision to discontinue the service.
There are a number of drop off locations in the Franklin area and the council is looking for more options to put in place for greater convenience for residents.
“This decision was not in our hands, but we do anticipate it may cause disruption for some of our residents, hence we are reminding them of the council’s drop off locations,” he says.
“We are also looking for other solutions and we will advise in due course what these are.”
The council offers a kerbside collection service to some residents and provides drop off sites for others, listed below.
New recycling bins will be rolled out to Franklin residents living in the Auckland Council region in 2017. This is when the current contract expires, to be replaced with a regionally-consistent kerbside recycling bin service.
