Who can vote

If you live in Auckland, you’re 18 or older and you’re enrolled on the New Zealand parliamentary electoral roll – great news: you can vote in the Auckland Council elections.

Go to elections.org.nz to enrol for the first time or check that your details are up to date.

How voting in the election works

Once you’re enrolled, your official voting papers will be posted to you between Friday 16 September and Wednesday 21 September. All you have to do is post your vote back, using the pre-paid envelope provided, or hand deliver it to one of our ballot boxes during the voting period.

You have three weeks to make your vote count!

Voting starts on Friday 16 September and closes at noon on Saturday 8 October.

Auckland is the largest, fastest-growing and most culturally diverse region in New Zealand.

Auckland Council’s many services, plans and projects play an important role in making our region great.

We have about 4000 local parks and reserves to maintain, as well as coastal areas, playgrounds and beaches.

Our libraries, pools and leisure centres and summer events enhance our communities, while everyday vital services like public transport, rubbish and recycling support the region.

Voting in the Auckland Council elections is one of the ways you can get involved in shaping our region’s future.
