While thousands of Aucklanders continue to enjoy the city’s new iconic Nelson St cycleway, little is known about the hard work behind the scenes to create the dazzling magenta Lightpath.

Known as EverGreen, the $270,000 New Zealand-made anti-skid surface treatment is made of a recycled crushed glass aggregate mixed with a coloured resin binder and made from 80% renewable resources.

Resin Surfaces is a locally owned and operated company that has been covering New Zealand with coloured textures and road safety improvements since 2009.

The company’s general manager Kyle Donegan said, “We’re very proud to have played such a visible part in this exciting, bright and bold addition to our city. Since the opening, it’s been so satisfying to see walkers, families and cyclists using it every time I pass by Nelson Street.”

Funded by government through the Urban Cycleways Programme and jointly delivered by the New Zealand Transport Agency, Auckland Council and Auckland Transport, Lightpath continues to see thousands of cyclists and walkers enjoying a new way to travel within Auckland.
