Aucklanders had one of the lowest rates of loneliness across the regions in 2014 and, like most New Zealanders, they feel they’re doing pretty well in life, according to new information from Statistics NZ.

Auckland highlights:

  • 40.5 percent needed no home repairs or maintenance – the best in the country.
  • Nearly two-thirds had not felt lonely in the past four weeks – the highest proportion in New Zealand.
  • Highest percentage with excellent health, and lowest percentage with only fair or poor health.
  • Being the most accepting of a new neighbour from a religious minority.
  • Highest percentage of people saying they didn’t have enough money.
  • Biggest percentage with a low sense of purpose in their lives, and lowest proportion with a strong sense of purpose.
