The last ten Movies in Parks events and the last six Music in Parks events this summer will not go ahead including those events scheduled this weekend.
A list of cancelled movies and music events follows below.
The 21st Auckland International Cultural Festival scheduled for Sunday 5 April at Mt Roskill Memorial Park has been cancelled and citizenship ceremonies through until the end of April have been cancelled.
Auckland Council hosts around 120 citizenship ceremonies each year in different parts of the region involving people from across our diverse communities.
Mayor Phil Goff says: “I know this will be disappointing for Aucklanders, including those who have worked so hard to prepare for these events, but keeping people safe has to come first; protecting our communities by limiting the spread of COVID-19 is our primary consideration.”
Graham Bodman, Auckland Council’s General Manager Arts, Community and Events says: “As we were nearing the end of our Movies and Music in Parks season, I’d like to thank our people who have delivered 34 events since the beginning of summer. We are grateful to our artists, suppliers, sponsors and partners for a successful season. We would also like to thank audiences who came to our parks in record numbers this year.”
Graham Bodman adds it is too soon to announce the impact of the government’s COVID-19 large-gatherings advice on Anzac Day. He says Auckland Council is working with the RSA on options for Anzac Day and will advise.
