To celebrate, entries are now open for the ANZ and Auckland Council ‘Design a Rashie’ competition.
All kindy and school-aged children in Whangaparāoa, Ōrewa, Silverdale and Pakuranga are invited to get creative and show us what they love about summer. The winners will be one of the first to try out their local splash pad wearing their personally designed rash shirt.
Our ‘Design a Rashie’ competition is a fun way for us to get the local kids excited about what’s to come this summer. Entries will be judged on how the design represents summer fun, as well as the use of colour and creativity.

What’s up for grabs?
One winning design will be selected for each of the two splash pads by the local ANZ Branch Manager and Leisure Centre Manager. The winning designs will be made into a rashie that the designer – and their classmates – will receive. They will all then be invited along to be the first to try out their local splash pad as guests of honour at the launch later this year.
ANZ Retail and Business Banking Managing Director Antonia Watson says she hopes the competition will bring out some of our most creative kids.
“We’re excited to see what the local school children come up with and are on the lookout for an eye-catching and colourful design,” she says.
“It’ll be fantastic to see a whole class wearing their unique rash shirts when the splash pads launch in summer.”
Prizes will be drawn from Tuesday, 31 October 2017.
A splashing good time
The splash pads will feature an array of water play features including fountains, mist sprayers and elevated structures, and will be designed for children of all ages and abilities. There will also be a picnic zone perfect for families to come together and relax.
Auckland Council Head of Active Recreation Rob McGee says the splash pads will be a great addition to the two leisure centres and local community.
“The splash pads will provide children of all ages with a free, safe and engaging water play area,” he says.
This project is led by a new partnership between ANZ and Auckland Council, and meets the council’s objective of making Auckland a better place to live.
The splash pads are expected to launch with the start of summer in early December.
