Structure plans for Warkworth and Silverdale West-Dairy Flat business land.
Structure plans are being developed for Warkworth and Silverdale West-Dairy Flat business land.
The Future Urban Land Supply Strategy identifies the Silverdale West/Dairy Flat business area as being development ready between 2018-2022 and Warkworth North in 2022.
Council staff with local board input will work with the community and iwi to develop a structure plan which sets out a pattern of future land uses such as housing, employment land, open space, environmental constraints and new centres. The plan will also identify infrastructure including roads, wastewater and water supply.
Rodney Local Board Transport, Infrastructure and Environment Committee Chair Cameron Brewer says that a key part of preparing a structure plan is working with the community and landowners.
“Future neighbourhoods and business areas need to integrate well with the environment and the entire bulk infrastructure must be provided in an efficient and affordable manner.”
Rodney Ward Councillor Greg Sayers says that prioritising these structure plans shows good progress by the council.
“We must align infrastructure needs with development aspirations in fast-growing new urban areas.”
Once the structure plans are finalised, the next step is to prepare plan changes for the areas being developed first.
Other Rodney towns will also receive structure planning in line with the timing of the Future Urban Land Supply Strategy.
