Upper Harbour Local Board is encouraging residents to explore their blue backyard this summer.
The board has produced a free paddling guide promoting trips that can be made around the northern Waitematā Harbour.
There’s a range of options, catering for beginners to experienced paddlers. Trips range from 5km to 20km and are suited to stand-up paddle boarders and kayakers.

The guide also contains a safety checklist, tips on the best times to set out, and where to get important weather and tidal information.
Upper Harbour Local Board Chair Lisa Whyte says it’s a great way to explore the area.
“There’s some gorgeous scenery to take in, and it’s fun, free, and great for keeping fit.”
You can access the guide online, or pick up a copy from the Albany Village Library or the Upper Harbour Local Board office on Kell Drive.
