Craggy Range has opened the doors to New Zealand’s newest premier winery accommodation with the reveal of the Owner’s Lodge located at its iconic Giants Winery in Hawke’s Bay New Zealand.
The lodge features four luxurious king bedrooms, each with ensuite, spacious open plan living and chef’s kitchen. The formal living area offers views to Te Mata Peak with dining and sitting areas by an impressive open fire place. The in ground pool sits high above the valley with the property immaculately landscaped and set in lush green surroundings.
The Owner’s Lodge was constructed as part of the Giants Winery build in 2001 with each of the buildings representative of New Zealand’s agricultural heritage designed by Architect John Blair.
While the external design remains in its original form, the layout of the lodge has been redesigned by local Architect Simon Clarkson to maximize the space ensuring a more spacious feel with raised cathedral ceilings and expansive hallways.
The interior design has been styled as a country lodge, embracing a classic country look and feel, but also ensuring a feeling of luxury throughout the lodge.
Interior Designer Andrew Melville has drawn upon the stunning surrounds ensuring the décor was complementary to the location drawing in the view of both the Tuki Tuki Valley and Te Mata Peak.
“I used a carefully curated collection of natural materials and drew on these to create texture – rustic wooden floors, sandstone surfaces, pewter finishes and in keeping with the natural New Zealand feel, cotton and wool,” he said.
Many of the furnishings and ornamental items have been hand-selected by Mary Peabody and daughter Mary-Jeanne Hutchinson with Mary-Jeanne saying, “We have been looking at pieces for the lodge for a long time and it was important for us to use as much locally-sourced materials as possible. New Zealand, and in particular Napier and Havelock North, offer a world-class range of artwork, antiques and furnishings and we felt the lodge was an ideal location to showcase the region’s treasures.”
During their stay guests will have access to an impressive wine selection including large format and rare library wines. A Craggy Range sommelier will take guests through a personalised wine tasting as part of the experience.
Guests can also enjoy a personal in-lodge chef experience which includes a tour of the grounds where they can pick fresh from the Terrôir Restaurant garden followed by dinner and personalised wine tasting.
Guests can also access a helicopter as part of the Ultimate 2-Day Wine Tour which includes an aerial tour of Giants Winery and the Kidnappers Vineyard in Te Awanga.
The tour will conclude with a picnic and wine tasting in the Gimblett Gravels Vineyard with a Craggy Range Winemaker.
Rates for the Owner’s Lodge are $2,500 per night in the high season, $2,000 per night in the low season. The lodge sleeps up to 8 people, includes in - lodge private wine tasting and complimentary bottle of Prestige Collection wine on arrival.
