The hotly contested International Football Tournament kicks off this Sunday (20 March) at Auckland International Cultural Festival.
This year's tournament features 12 Open teams, four Junior teams and two Women’s teams, including two teams from the Refugee Youth Action Network. Teams are made of representatives from Ethiopia, Mixed African, Burundi, Tanzania, Sudan, Eritrea, Afghanistan, Thailand, Burma, and the Middle East.
2015 saw the Somali Lions take out the competition after a seven-year losing streak, and they’re unlikely to give up their title without a fight.
