Annual Enterprise Survey: 2014 financial year (provisional)
New Zealand businesses' total operating profit before tax was up $4.1 billion (7 percent) in the 2014 financial year, Statistics New Zealand said today.
The agricultural industries led the overall profit growth in 2014, after a decline in 2013.
“Over 70 percent of businesses made a profit in 2014, similar to last year, although businesses were generally more profitable in 2014,” national accounts manager Gary Dunnet said.
These results come from the 2014 Annual Enterprise Survey (AES), which is New Zealand's most comprehensive source of financial statistics.
AES provides a wide range of information, including income and expenditure variables and financial position information. Financial ratios and profitability variables can also be derived using the financial data collected by the survey.
This year's release provides additional information on business size, for example, income and operating profit by sales-turnover bands.
We encourage the wider use of the AES data for business decision-making or economic-policy formation.
See Annual Enterprise Survey: 2014 financial year (provisional) for detailed data in the downloadable tables.
