Students head back to school next week, and Auckland Transport has issued an important reminder to drive safely as they do.

During school holidays, traffic volumes on Auckland's roads reduce by as much as 15 per cent. But as students return to the classroom and New Zealand heads into summer, AT is expecting traffic to rise again and more pedestrians and cyclists to take to the roads.

Auckland Transport's Group Manager Network Management and Safety, Randhir Karma, says "As the weather gets better more students will be walking and cycling, so it's important that drivers look out for more vulnerable road users and slow down around schools.

"We want all children and parents to have confidence that they will be safe when going to school. Safety is AT's number-one priority and to make sure this happens, we need the support of drivers."

North Shore Bus Service Changes

Public transport will be busier next week, and it's important for parents and students on the North Shore to know that there may have been some recent changes to their regular bus services.

It's been almost two weeks since the New Network launched on the North Shore and, other than some initial issues at Constellation Station, the rollout of the new services has gone well.

Details about the school bus changes can be found on the Auckland Transport website.
