  1. Howick Historical Village

Head to this open-air museum in Howick to discover what life was like in the mid-1800s and to see how early settlers in Auckland lived and worked.

  1. Auckland Zoo

From native New Zealand wildlife to Asian elephants, Sumatran tigers and gigantic Galapagos tortoises, see some of the world’s most awe-inspiring animals right here in the city.

Tickets can be purchased online before you visit and family passes are available if you’re planning a day out with the kids.

  1. Go for a swim

Hitting the pool can be a great way to relax, unwind, and fit a bit of exercise into your weekend too. If you're not already signed up, Auckland Council Pools and Leisure offers a free one-week trial perfect for getting your feet wet at your local pool.

On warmer days, look out for your nearest splash pad – a great way for younger kids to have fun in the water at free, safe play areas.

  1. Shop at local markets

If retail therapy is more your thing, why not head to one of Auckland’s many local markets?

From the Clevedon or Matakana Village farmers' markets to the Devonport Craft and Fine Food Market, there’s sure to be a market on this weekend to suit every taste and appetite.

  1. Head to the theatre

Whether you’re looking for a family-friendly comedy, critically acclaimed musicals or touring international shows, Auckland’s theatres host a great selection of shows to suit every audience.

Take a look at the OurAuckland events page for a selection of upcoming performances near you.
