MCKAYSON New Zealand Women’s Open organisers are working with all parties on an optimal date for their event going forward.

The LPGA today announced their draft schedule for next year which includes a proposed new date for the MCKAYSON New Zealand Women’s Open in early 2019 alongside the Australian Women’s Open.

This follows the success of the inaugural event in Auckland last month, which drew praise from the LPGA for the numbers of fans that attended and the presentation of the new course at Windross Farm.

Discussion around a potential shift to a summer date to dovetail with the Australian Women’s Open is one option, and is clearly one favoured by the LPGA, said MCKAYSON New Zealand Women’s Open Tournament Director, Michael Goldstein.

“There are benefits to staging our tournament in either the Spring like this year or in Summer to piggyback with the Australian Women’s Open. If it proves the latter, then it would result in a 16-month gap to the next tournament.

“We are currently working with all parties to secure the best time for the ongoing growth and development of the MCKAYSON New Zealand Women’s Open as another international event on the LPGA schedule.”
