If you visit the picturesque Coyle Park with your smart phone or tablet, don’t be alarmed if you stumble across a gigantic blue dragon or a few playful prehistoric playmates – it’s all part of an amazing digital playground in Pt Chev.

Magical Park – an app that transforms a normal park into a digital playground – will be in action from now until Easter 2018 at Coyle Park.

Auckland Council trialled the virtual reality game last year, in collaboration with the game’s New Zealand developer Geo AR Games, at eight parks around Auckland. They brought it back in February to three parks and have now added Coyle Park.

Board member Margi Watson says it’s fantastic Albert-Eden’s Coyle Park is a Magical Park location until next Easter.

"Getting out and about, even over the autumn and winter months is good for everyone. Magical Park allows kids to combine phone games with the outdoors and to explore new places."

The app is designed for children aged 6-11, and augments the real world with 3D digital images via a smartphone or tablet.
