Not only are there walks and activities for all ages, fitness levels and a range of interests, many of the walks cross private land that is usually closed to the public.

“This festival provides a wonderful opportunity to see Waiheke and the Hauraki Gulf as you’ve never seen it before,” says Denise Whitfield, Waiheke Walking Festival Coordinator
Among the new walks on offer this year is the Matiatia Walk, which shares the stories of Ngāti Paoa alongside tāngata whenua and a Bring Your Device walk (think Pokemon Go for grownups).
Longer walks include the Te Ara Hura 100km circuit walk (four days) and Whakanewha Exploring (six hours)
Activities for children range from Glow Worms adventures through to a family walk led by the Kiwi Conservation Club.
