Council staff, along with Kaipatiki Local Board members and North Shore Ward councillors were there to celebrate its completion and opening.

Newly created wetlands, adjacent to Croftfield Lane, has improved the area’s stream’s habitat for native fish and eel species. The wetlands also function to filter out contaminants from the water and reduce the risk of flooding and flood damage in the Wairau Valley.

A new shared path and bridge structure have also been installed, providing local shoppers and workers safe and attractive walking and cycling connections between Tristram Avenue and Link Drive.

Auckland Council’s Public Art Team has also contributed to this Healthy Waters project with the purchase and installation of a new corten steel art sculpture. The artwork was created by Elke Finkenauer, a New Zealand artist now living in Glasgow, Scotland.
