There's still time to show your love for Auckland by standing as a candidate in the local election.

 

If you love Auckland and have great ideas for our city's future, you can stand as a candidate in the 2016 Auckland Council local elections.  There are 170 available positions, including the mayor, 20 ward councillors and 149 local board positions.

If you’ve been considering the opportunity to be a leader in our local democracy, there’s still time! 

Hurry! Nominations close at midday tomorrow, Friday 12 August.

Are you eligible?

Remember, to be eligible you must be:

  • a New Zealand citizen aged over 18
  • on the electoral roll (which means already be enrolled to vote) 

You also need two people to nominate you. These people must be aged over 18 and enrolled to vote in the area in which you wish to stand.
