There are heaps of places in Auckland you can get your freestyle or doggie paddle on with beaches across the region.
But if you want to avoid the discomfort that is sunscreen mixed with sand, why not head to one of our pools? They’re a great spot to get together with your mates or to keep the kids busy for a few hours.
Here’s our top pools to cool off.
Parnell Baths
The iconic Parnell Baths is a must-visit. It has the largest saltwater pool in New Zealand, which is ideal for both the competitive swimmer in training and just-for-fun swimmer. There are also family and adult spa pools, toddlers pool and an interactive aqua playground for the kids.
Tepid Baths
Get in a swim during lunchtime or after work at ‘The Teps’, an Auckland landmark in the CBD. It has a 25m seven-lane pool, a 15m learners’ pool, spa and sauna and a state-of-the-art fitness centre.
Lloyd Elsmore Park Pool and Leisure Centre
Take the kids to the ANZ splash pad at the Lloyd Elsmore Park Pool and Leisure Centre. It’s open daily 9am-6.30pm (weather permitting) and offers a whole lot of water play fun with fountains, mist sprayers and elevated structures.
Albany Stadium Pool
Fun is the focus of Albany Stadium Pool. The zero-depth splash pad area provides toddlers with their first aquatic experience, while the shallow kids’ pool is perfect for young ones developing confidence in the water.
For the more adventurous kids and adults, the leisure pool offers a variety of water activities, inflatables and an over-the-pool rock-climbing wall.
Ōtāhuhu Pool and Leisure Centre
Ideal for water bombing. End of story.
West Wave
Go west-side to West Wave. There’s something for everyone at this extensive complex, from a hydroslide and wave pool through to a steam room, sauna and lap pool.
