Auckland Conversations events aim to inspire, educate and engage Aucklanders
Auckland Conversations is back for 2016 and has announced the latest line-up of inspiring speakers from New Zealand and around the world.
These free events are an excellent opportunity to be inspired, informed and engaged with issues affecting Auckland as it aspires to become the world’s most liveable city.
New Zealander, Skye Duncan, will be presenting at the first Auckland Conversation of the year on 8 March.
Dunedin-raised and educated in Wellington, Skye Duncan has spent the last decade working in New York as an urban designer and will draw on her experience expertise in planning, architecture and design that has helped to shape multiple sites across the city. Her current role is Director of Global Designing Cities Initiative for the National Association of City Transportation Officials (NACTO).
Skye Duncan will present the upcoming Global Street Design Guideand discuss opportunities for cities to be creative about the infrastructure they already have, and improve the capability of urban streets to support a healthy, liveable, and sustainable future.

On 15 March we will hear from C40’s Executive Director, Mark Watts. C40 is a network of 80 cities committed to addressing climate change.
Last year Auckland become the newest member to join C40 and will now be working with some of the world’s greatest cities, representing 550+ million people and one quarter of the global economy.
Auckland has set a target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40 per cent by 2040. Take a look at Low Carbon Auckland - Auckland’s Energy Resilience and Low Carbon Action Plan that was officially launched by Mayor Len Brown together with civic and business leaders on 1 July 2014.
